Dr. Larry Shapiro
Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Shapiro recently transitioned to private practice after a number of years in the OCD and Anxiety-Related Disorders Center at St. Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute in order to pursue his interest in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy and cannabis consulting. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Shapiro is an adjunct instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at Washington University School of Medicine, where he lectures psychiatry residents on the use of cognitive-behavioral treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, and combat trauma.

In addition to his interest in working with veterans, Dr. Shapiro is interested in the potential use of microdosing psilocybin as an aide for reducing the side effects of SSRI tapering, the impact of neuroplasticity in neurodegenerative disorders like MS and Parkinson’s, and neurodivergent populations including ADHD, executive functioning disorder, and autism spectrum functioning.

“I am very excited to be a member of Silo Wellness’ scientific and retreat advisory boards. As the awareness of the use of medicines like psilocybin increases, the demand for access and use will as well. These are powerful medicines with enormous potential, so the availability of high-quality programs and products, like those available through Silo, will become increasingly important to ensure their safe and ethical use.”
